MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE STAUNTON CITY COUNCIL, HELD IN THE RALPH & JOSEPHINE OLTMANN COMMUNITY CENTER, 101 W. PEARL ST., STAUNTON, ILLINOIS ON MONDAY, JANUARY 9, 2023


I. CALL TO ORDER:


Mayor Craig Neuhaus called the Staunton City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 9, 2023.


II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus led the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.


III. ROLL CALL:

City Clerk Stiegemeier called roll with the following persons:

Hoxsey Street from Spring to Panhorst

And to close Henry Street from Wood to Union Street

VIII. CITY CLERK’S REPORT

The City of Staunton has three licensed residential trash haulers. They are DC Waste & Recycling, Republic Services, Inc and SPS Waste, LLC. Waste Management will no longer be providing trash service.

PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY -

Motion by Manning, seconded by Dias to approve request from Zion Lutheran Church’s Men’s Club to make the following streets one way for their annual Sausage Supper on February 5, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.:

Wood Street froom Henry to Spring Street

Union Street from Henry to Spring Street

Hoxsey Street from Spring to Panhorst Street

And to close Henry Street from Wood to Union.

Motion by Moore, seconded by Manning to pay Invoice #749210 to Sandberg Phoenix for Professional Services Rendered regarding Special Projects in the amount of $1,785.90. At Roll Call Vote - Ayes: Machota, Moore, Tipler, Manning, Dias, Berg. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.


WATER-

STREET / SEWER

Motion by Machota, seconded by Tipler to approve purchasing a 3 horse power lagoon aerator from VaraCorp Aerators at a cost of $8,250.00, plus shipping. At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Moore, Tipler, Manning, Dias, Berg, Machota. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Machota, seconded by Manning to proceed with engineering on the West Frontage Road Sewer Extension Project. At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Tipler, Manning, Dias, Berg, Machota, Moore. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Machota, seconded by Moore to approve Quote #362820 from Nu Way Concrete Forms for concrete saw and plate compactor in the amount of $6,888.55. This will be paid from line item 01.41.831.0. At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Dias, Berg, Machota, Moore, Tipler, Manning. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Manning, seconded by Tipler to approve Resolution #2023-01 Council Resolution Of Support for Community Block Grant Program (Housing Grant). At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Berg, Machota, Moore, Tipler, Manning, Dias. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.


Motion by Manning, seconded by Dias to approve Resolution #2023-02 Council Resolution of Support for Community Block Grant Program (Water Grant). At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Manning, Dias, Berg, Machota, Moore, Tipler. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
