MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE STAUNTON CITY COUNCIL, HELD AT THE PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING, 914 N. EASTON ST., STAUNTON, ILLINOIS ON MONDAY, MAY 13, 2019
I. CALL TO ORDER:
Mayor Craig Neuhaus called the Staunton City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 13, 2019.
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Mayor Craig Neuhaus led the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.
III. ROLL CALL:
City Clerk Stiegemeier called roll with the following persons

VI. GUESTS
Alderman Pritchett wanted to acknowledge and thank teachers John Davin and Larry
Caldieraro, as well as their classes from Staunton High School, who recently made
eleven picnic tables for the Fireman’s Park. The City purchased the lumber to build
the tables and these two classes at the high school put them together in a very short
period of time. A special thanks to both teachers and their two classes for doing this
project for the City.
Alderman Pritchett also made mention that an email was sent to Madison
Communications requesting the most recent quarterly data from Madison customer
service requirements. Madison had sent a report to the City stating that they had
met the standards, but Pritchett has asked for documentation. The original email was
sent on April 4, 2019 and as of this time, there has been no response from Madison.
VII . CORRESPONDENCE
Received a letter from Brandy Cloud, Executive Director of The Macoupin Art
Collective, requesting to use the Fireman’s Park on Friday, May 30th from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. for a Girl Scout Troop workshop. She is requesting to have the park rental fee waived for the event.
Received a letter of resignation from part time police officer Joshua Bruhn. The letter
is dated April 23, 2019, and his resignation is effective immediately.
Received a letter of resignation from part time police dispatcher Janice McGhee. The
letter is dated April 23, 2019, and her resignation is effective immediately.

IX. CITY CLERK’S REPORT
Received the Abstract of Votes from Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan for the
Consolidated Election that was held on April 2, 2019.
Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, the next regularly scheduled meeting of the City
Council will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

PARK & CIVIC IMPROVEMENT –
Motion by Scanzoni, seconded by Wallace to approve request from The Macoupin Art Collective to use the Fireman’s Park on Friday, May 30, 2019, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. for a Girl Scout Troop workshop, with the park rental fee being waived. Motion by Pritchett, seconded by Plenske to approve a 2.5% pay raise for all non-union employees, effective May 1, 2019. Ayes: Hanks, Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Johnson. Nayes: None. Abstain: Wallace. Absent: Bodner, Schrauth. Motion carried 5 Ayes; 1 Abstain.
UTILITIES-
Motion by Pritchett, seconded by Johnson to accept Quote #3491 from Aquafix for lagoon chemicals in the amount of $12,879.70. This is for an annual bug treatment at the lagoons. Ayes: Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Wallace, Johnson, Hanks. Nayes: None. Absent: Bodner, Schrauth. Motion carried.
