MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE STAUNTON CITY COUNCIL, HELD IN THE PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING, 914 NORTH EASTON ST., STAUNTON, ILLINOIS ON MONDAY, JULY 24, 2017

I. CALL TO ORDER:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus called the Staunton City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, July 24, 2017

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus led the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.

III. ROLL CALL:

City Clerk Stiegemeier called roll with the following persons

VI. CORRESPONDENCE

Received a Liquor License Application from St. Michael’s Parish for their annual

Octoberfest, which will be held on October 7 and 8, 2017. They are asking to have the license fee waived for the event.

Received a card from the staff at Sullivan Drug thanking all of the volunteers and various City departments that were associated with the Tour de Donut and Ribfest. The 2018 Tour de Donut will be held on July 14th and this will be the 30th year for the race.

PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY -

Motion by Plenske, seconded by Johnson to grant request from St. Michael’s Parish to issue a liquor license for their annual Octoberfest on October 7 and 8, 2017, with the liquor license fee being waived. Ayes: Johnson, Plenske, Scanzoni. Nayes: Garde, Pritchett. Absent: Bodner, Boster, Sievers. Motion carried 3 Ayes; 2 Nayes.

Motion by Plenske, seconded by Pritchett to approve hiring Carlos (Chuck) Deprow from our recently approved full time placement list compiled by the Police Commission. This will be filling the vacancy left by Randy Williams. Ayes: Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Garde. Nayes: None. Abstain: Johnson. Absent: Bodner, Boster, Sievers. Motion carried 4 Ayes; 1 Abstain.

PARK & CIVIC IMPROVEMENT –

Nothing to report.

FINANCE–

Motion by Pritchett, seconded by Johnson to transfer $25,000.00 from Civic Improvement Fund to Park & Recreation Fund, as budgeted. Ayes: Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Garde, Johnson. Nayes: None. Absent: Bodner, Boster, Scanzoni. Motion carried.

UTILITIES-

STREET-

Motion by Garde, seconded by Pritchett to approve purchase of truck for the Street Department at a cost not to exceed $20,000.00. Ayes: Pritchett, Scanzoni, Garde, Johnson. Nayes: None. Abstain: Plenske. Absent: Bodner, Boster, Sievers. Motion carried 4 Ayes; 1 Abstain.

Motion by Johnson, seconded by Plenske to approve Resolution #2017-13 – A Resolution Relating To Participation By Elected Officials In The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. Ayes: Scanzoni, Garde, Johnson, Plenske. Nayes: Pritchett. Absent: Bodner, Boster, Sievers. Motion carried 4 Ayes; 1 Naye.
